How To Choose The Right Sized Wig

The hair is part of your body that enhances your overall appeal. Because of this, it’s no wonder why many people invest much money in making their hair look amazing. Yet, there are also people who struggle to get appeal hair, which is why they resort to using wigs. For wig-wearers out there, the most crucial part is in getting a wig that fits them.

Know that wigs are not one-size-fits-all solutions. Because of this, you need to find the right size for your head, or you’ll look like you’re wearing a wig that looks unnatural.

Your Wig Size

There’s no special equipment needed to measure the size of your head. All you need is a soft measuring tape to find the circumference of your head. Start at the nape of your neck up to your hairline.

Wig Sizes

Wigs typically come in three sizes:

● Petite

● Average

● Large

How do you know which size is for you? If your head measures between 20 and 21.5 inches, then a petite size is an ideal choice for you. For heads that measure between 21.5 and 22.5, opt for the average size, and for heads with 22.5 to 23 inches, a large-sized wig will work best.

Know that when a wig is too small for your head, it will reveal your scalp. The wig should also lay flat if it features a lace front. The same goes for a monofilament top as it should lay flat on your head. Of course, the most apparent reason would be if it’s too tight that it squeezes your temples, then your wig is probably too small.

When a wig is too big, on the other hand, it slides whenever you move your head. If you can see your real hair under the ear tabs, then the wig is big for you. Another sign is if there’s winkling or buckling at the front of the wig.

Luckily, wigs come with straps that you can use to adjust it. Whether it’s too big or small, adjust the straps, and it should solve minor issues. If the problem isn’t fixed, then it’s best to order a different wig size.

Put on the Wig

When shopping for wigs, put it on correctly and see how it looks in the mirror. Do natural movements such as turning your head to the side, head shakes, nodding, and others alike. This will allow you to see how the wig looks when you’re moving and if you’re wearing the proper size. Also, take note of how your wig feels on your head. Sometimes, even though the size is right, it just doesn’t feel comfortable. So, consider your comfort level as well when wearing the wig.

Wearing a wig should make you feel beautiful and comfortable at the same time, which is why choosing the right size for your wig is essential. There are many shops out there that offer wigs. If you resort to shopping for wigs online, make sure that they have an easy return policy, should you get the wrong size for your head.
